Senate Passes Motion on 13th Malaysia Plan

Kuala lumpur: The Dewan Negara today passed the motion on the 13th Malaysia Plan (13MP), the country’s strategic five-year development blueprint for the 2026-2030 period. Its president, Datuk Awang Bemee Awang Ali Basah, announced that the motion was passed with a majority of senators voting in favour.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the 13MP motion was debated over four days, from August 25 to 28, followed by a two-day ministerial winding-up session, which concluded today. During today’s session, 15 more ministries delivered their winding-up speeches, including the Ministry of Communications, the Ministry of Health, and the Ministry of Economy.

On July 31, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, who also serves as the Finance Minister, tabled the 13MP. The plan is aimed at redesigning the nation’s trajectory through technological leadership, inclusive growth, and public sector reform. The Dewan Negara sitting is set to continue tomorrow.
