Semarak Ramadan Farmers’ Market Brings Affordable Essentials to Melaka

Melaka: The Melaka-level Semarak Ramadan 1447H Farmers' Market programme is being held at eight different locations from today until February 17, aimed at aiding consumers, particularly Muslims, in preparing early for the fasting month.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the initiative, spearheaded by the State Investment, Industry, and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Development Committee, is designed to provide consumers with access to basic necessities at reasonable prices. Datuk Khaidirah Abu Zahar, the committee's deputy chairman, emphasized the programme's role in easing living costs by facilitating the purchase of fresh agricultural produce and essential Ramadan items directly from local producers.

Khaidirah addressed the media during the launch of the Semarak Ramadan 1447H Farmers' Market programme at the Jasin Farmers' Market in Rim. The event is also occurring in Selandar, Lubok China, Masjid Tanah, Alor Gajah, and Merlimau, with expectations to attract around 6,800 visitors and generate an estimated sales value of RM304,000, subject to the event's location.

Visitors to the markets can benefit from promotional sales on various goods, including Grade C eggs at RM10 per dozen, MADANI Combo sets for RM10, fresh meat at RM30 per kilogram, standard chicken priced at RM12 each, and local white rice at RM26 per 10 kg bag. The programme also features the distribution of bubur lambuk and oranges to visitors, promoting community spirit and the practice of sharing during Ramadan.
