Bagan lalang: The Selangor government is committed to ensuring that the state’s development goes in tandem with the preservation of its environment, culture, and heritage, said Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari. He spoke during the opening ceremony of the Bagan Lalang Beach Festival @ Sepang 2025.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the event, organised by the Sepang Municipal Council (MPSepang), is part of the 2025 Visit Selangor Year campaign. It exemplifies the close cooperation between the state government, local authorities, government agencies, the private sector, and the multi-racial community. This collaboration is aimed at strengthening unity while generating economic benefits for small traders and homestay operators.
Amirudin highlighted that the Bagan Lalang Beach Festival @ Sepang features sports activities, beach events, and art performances, positioning Sepang district as a unique tourist destination in Selangor. The state has already welcomed over 4.1 million tourists as of June 2025, with 624,794 visiting Sepang, indicating the area’s potential in attracting both local and international tourists.
The state government is offering various incentives to support entrepreneurs in the tourism sector, with the goal of enhancing competitiveness, improving product and service quality, and bolstering the 2025 Visit Selangor Year campaign. Amirudin emphasized the importance of safeguarding the state’s 291-kilometre coastal waters, which are vital for both the marine ecosystem and economic potential.
He stressed the collective responsibility in preserving the beauty of the coast for future generations, noting that it is not solely the government’s responsibility but a communal trust. He also praised MPSepang for its consistent efforts in maintaining the cleanliness and comfort of Bagan Lalang Beach, reaffirming the state government’s commitment to supporting programs that positively impact the tourism industry.
