Selangor: The Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, has called for a comprehensive approach to address the persistent flood issues plaguing the state, with a clear target of achieving zero flood incidents in the future.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Sultan emphasized the importance of seeking the best expertise, whether locally or internationally, to tackle the flood problem. He urged the utilization of knowledge, technology, and experience, warning against hiding behind excuses, as the people's suffering should not be the price for planning failures. In his 2026 New Year message, Sultan Sharafuddin acknowledged the impossibility of preventing natural phenomena like storms and heavy rain but expressed confidence that floods could be mitigated through a robust system, long-term planning, and disciplined implementation.

The Sultan also reminded those in power, particularly political leaders in Selangor, to prioritize resolving the people's issues over political discourse. He stressed that all plans and actions should be centered on the prosperity of the people and the stability of the state.
