Shah Alam: The Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, graced a ceremony to receive business zakat (tithes) amounting to RM7.65 million from four companies at Masjid Raja Bendahara Tengku Badar Shah here today.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the four companies contributing to the zakat are Tenaga Nasional Berhad, which contributed RM3.39 million; Amanah Hartanah Bumiputera with RM1.86 million; CIMB Islamic Bank Berhad providing RM1.2 million; and Safeguards Secure Solution Sdn Bhd also contributing RM1.2 million. His Royal Highness received the business zakat during the Iftar Ceremony with the People, Hari Raya Contribution Presentation, and the Official Opening of Masjid Raja Bendahara Tengku Badar Shah.
Accompanying the Ruler at the event were the Tengku Permaisuri of Selangor, Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin, and the Raja Muda of Selangor, Tengku Amir Shah. In his speech, Sultan Sharafuddin extended Hari Raya Aidilfitri greetings to all Muslims and expressed his hope that Ramadan would bring positive changes in individuals. ‘May this Ramadan successfully instil patience, discipline, trustworthiness, and self-restraint among Muslims, not only during this holy month but throughout their lives,’ he said.
Sultan Sharafuddin also presented Hari Raya contributions amounting to RM211,500 to 423 asnaf (eligible zakat recipients) from the Petaling district. At the same event, His Royal Highness also graced the opening of Masjid Raja Bendahara Tengku Badar Shah, a newly constructed management mosque completed last year. Built at a cost of RM24.1 million, the mosque can accommodate up to 4,500 congregants at a time.
