Selangor: The Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, expressed his admiration and pride over the Selangor contingent's double success in winning the Malaysia Games (SUKMA) and Para SUKMA 2026.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, His Royal Highness said the historic achievement reflected the athletes' high fighting spirit, discipline, diligence and extraordinary commitment in elevating the state's sporting prestige.
Sultan Sharafuddin and the Tengku Permaisuri of Selangor, Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin, also extended their highest congratulations and appreciation to the entire state contingent on the proud achievement. "The Sultan of Selangor also prays that Selangor athletes will continue to achieve more successes and bring glory to the state and Malaysia in the future," read a post on the Selangor Royal Office Instagram today.
At the same time, Sultan Sharafuddin expressed his appreciation to the coaches, team managers, athletes' families and all parties who played a vital role and provided continuous support towards the success. "His Royal Highness hopes that all athletes and coaches will not become complacent, but instead continue to strive to improve their performance and advance to higher levels, including on the national and international stages," the post added.
At SUKMA 2026, the Selangor contingent secured the overall championship after winning 101 gold medals out of a total haul of 245 medals. The Selangor Para SUKMA contingent also continued the strong performance, topping the standings with 93 gold medals out of a total of 200 medals won.
