Selangor Sultan Orders Regular Monitoring To Prevent Revival Of Deviant Teachings

Selangor: The Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, has ordered relevant agencies to conduct regular monitoring to ensure previously eliminated deviant teachings do not resurface. His Royal Highness also urged for these teachings to be curbed at an early stage to prevent them from spreading and corrupting Muslims.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Selangor Ruler emphasized the importance of Muslims, particularly in Selangor, strengthening their faith to avoid being misled by ideologies deviating from the Ahli Sunnah Wal Jamaah creed. He stressed that any deviation must be prevented in Selangor to avoid confusion and division among Muslims. Sultan Sharafuddin delivered these remarks during the iftar event, the Hari Raya contribution presentation ceremony, and the opening of Masjid Raja Bendahara Tengku Badar Shah in Denai Alam.

The Sultan highlighted the responsibility of Muslims to consult the Mufti and relevant fatwas when confronted with misleading teachings or doctrines. He urged prompt reporting of such matters to the Selangor Islamic Religious Council for enforcement. His Royal Highness also advised on maintaining honesty and integrity, especially in managing assets related to asnaf groups, zakat funds, and haj and umrah packages.

Sultan Sharafuddin expressed regret over fraud incidents by unlicensed haj and umrah travel agencies. He warned that such actions could tarnish Islam’s sanctity and reminded Muslims of the severe divine punishment awaiting those who commit such acts. “We may escape punishment in this world but we can never evade the severe judgment of Allah on the Day of Reckoning,” the Sultan stated.

Earlier in the event, Sultan Sharafuddin, accompanied by Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin and Raja Muda Tengku Amir Shah, was welcomed by Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari, state executive council members, and mosque leaders. The Sultan also expressed gratitude for officiating seven new mosques in Selangor during Ramadan and announced the distribution of RM35.2 million in aid from the Selangor Zakat Board to 75,207 recipients across various districts. He hoped the assistance would ease their burden, particularly with the upcoming Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebrations.
