Selangor: The Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, tonight graced a banquet held in conjunction with the 66th anniversary of the Selangor State Assembly. The Ruler, accompanied by Tengku Permaisuri of Selangor, Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin, was welcomed by Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari and members of the state executive council.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, at the same event, Sultan Sharafuddin also launched a special stamp edition in conjunction with the anniversary, featuring six stamps with images such as ceremonial meeting regalia and the state assembly building. Selangor state assembly Speaker, Lau Weng San, emphasized the institution’s significant contribution to the state’s progress, highlighting its role in policy formulation and ensuring that the administration remains focused on the people’s interests and the state’s well-being.
Lau Weng San also noted that to enhance operations, the State Secretariat is currently exploring the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in managing assembly proceedings through the Teraju AI Selangor initiative. He remarked on the challenges the assembly will face, including high public expectations, climate change, geopolitical tensions, and technological advancements. Nonetheless, he expressed confidence in addressing these challenges through cooperation, integrity, and commitment from all parties.
Additionally, Lau urged all Selangor State Assembly members to work together and set aside political differences to ensure that assembly debates remain centered on the people’s interests and well-being. He called for upholding the Selangor State Constitution, preserving the rule of law, and serving as principled voices representing the electorate’s trust.
