Kuala Lumpur: Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah and Tengku Permaisuri Selangor Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin visited the grave of Malaysia’s fifth Prime Minister, Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, at the Heroes Mausoleum.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Their Royal Highnesses arrived at the mausoleum at 9.30 am, where they poured scented water and scattered flower petals on the late statesman’s grave. The visit was marked by a tahlil and prayers session, led by the Mufti of Selangor, Datuk Dr Anhar Opir.
Present at the ceremony were Tun Abdullah’s son, Tan Sri Kamaluddin, daughter Nori, and son-in-law Khairy Jamaluddin. The presence of the family members underscored the solemnity of the occasion.
Before concluding their visit, Sultan Sharafuddin and Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin also paid their respects at the graves of Malaysia’s second Prime Minister, Tun Abdul Razak Hussein, third Prime Minister, Tun Hussein Onn, and the second Deputy Prime Minister, Tun Dr Ismail Abdul Rahman.
Tun Abdullah, affectionately known as Pak Lah, passed away at the National Heart Institute on April 14, at the age of 85, leaving behind a legacy of public service.
