Selangor State Assembly to Debate Putra Heights Gas Pipeline Fire Incident

Subang jaya: The Putra Heights gas pipeline fire incident will be debated in the current sitting of the Selangor State Legislative Assembly, as announced by Speaker Lau Weng San. The debate is scheduled to occur following a special briefing by Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari or his representative, which will come after the tabling of the Selangor State Islamic Religious Administration (Amendment) Enactment Bill 2025.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Speaker confirmed that the assembly would reconvene for a debate after the briefing. This session will offer an opportunity for all assembly members to engage in discussions, with the government providing clarifications on issues raised during the debate. This decision was made during the ongoing Selangor State Assembly sitting.

Earlier in the session, Dr Afif Bahardin (PN-Taman Medan) submitted an appeal on behalf of 20 individuals impacted by the blaze and explosion on April 1, requesting the matter be discussed in the current assembly sitting. However, Speaker Lau disallowed the appeal from being tabled, citing its overlap with an existing application filed by Menteri Besar Amirudin for the issue to be discussed during this session.

Speaker Lau emphasized that the primary reason for disallowing the appeal was the presence of an existing application from the Menteri Besar. This approach ensures broader participation from all assembly members in discussing the matter. The Selangor State Assembly sitting commenced today and is set to continue until July 11.
