Selangor Speaker to Announce Assemblyman’s Status Amid Allegations

Kuala lumpur: The Selangor State Assembly Speaker is set to disclose the findings of a review concerning the status of a state assemblyman on Monday, August 3, as confirmed by Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari. The announcement comes amid allegations that have raised questions about the assemblyman's eligibility, potentially leading to a by-election if the seat is declared vacant.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Amirudin Shari stated that consultations with the State Legal Adviser are currently underway to verify the allegations before proceeding with any further action. "We have received information regarding the matter and are currently consulting the State Legal Adviser. The Speaker may make an announcement on the matter during the State Assembly sitting scheduled on August 3," he told reporters.

Amirudin provided these remarks after attending the Kuala Pilah Berselawat and Munajat Perdana Negeri Sembilan programme at Dataran Melang. Speculation about a possible by-election has intensified following the allegations, underscoring the significance of the Speaker's impending announcement.
