Selangor: The zakat fitrah rates in Selangor for this year's Ramadan have been set at RM8, RM16, and RM25 per person, depending on the type of rice consumed, Lembaga Zakat Selangor said.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Zakat Selangor stated that the rates were determined based on current market prices of rice and the weight of one gantang Baghdad, equivalent to 2.6 kilograms of rice. The RM8 rate applies to those consuming local super special or imported white rice, RM16 for fragrant, glutinous, parboiled, or brown rice, and RM25 for basmathi, herba ponni, Japanese/Calrose, red, or black rice.

More than 2,400 amil fitrah assistants (PAF) have been appointed to facilitate zakat fitrah collection and will be stationed at over 460 mosques and surau statewide. The public is advised to make payments only to officially appointed PAF. Zakat Selangor mentioned that PAF in Kuala Selangor, Klang, Petaling, Hulu Langat, and Gombak are using mobile applications fully for collections, with payers receiving digital payment confirmation slips immediately after transactions and verification available through the EZO system.

In other regions such as Sabak Bernam, Hulu Selangor, Sepang, and Kuala Langat, payments are still made using fitrah coupon books, while supported by the same application. Payments can also be made via the ZPay application at temporary counters set up at more than 200 selected premises for cashless transactions, including through FPX, credit or debit cards, e-wallets, and DuitNow QR.
