Selangor: Selangor has observed a significant decline in dengue fever cases, reporting 20,399 cases up to Epidemiological Week 45/2025-a reduction of 36,001 cases or 63.8 percent compared to 56,400 cases during the same period last year. Dengue-related fatalities also decreased, with six deaths reported this year compared to 14 in 2024.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, State Public Health and Environment Committee Chairman Jamaliah Jamaluddin highlighted that this decline reflects the continuous efforts of the state government, alongside relevant agencies and departments, to strengthen dengue control and prevention measures. Jamaliah emphasized the need for a sustained and comprehensive preventive approach to maintain this downward trend in the coming years.
The state government plans to enhance existing measures in collaboration with the Selangor Health Department, local authorities, district and land offices, non-governmental organizations, and community leaders. These strategies will integrate biological, chemical, and environmental control measures, supported by law enforcement and continuous health education.
Jamaliah also mentioned the expansion and strengthening of the dengue-free community program across all districts, involving councillors, residents’ associations, educational institutions, and religious bodies. Frequent gotong-royong activities will be conducted to search for and eliminate breeding sites in hotspot localities.
Awareness campaigns will be intensified through electronic and social media platforms, including billboards, radio, Facebook, and TikTok, to educate the public on preventing Aedes mosquito breeding and the dangers of dengue fever.
