Selangor Progresses to 50% Completion in SUKMA 2026 Preparations

Shah alam: Selangor’s preparations for hosting the 2026 Malaysia Games (SUKMA) have reached the halfway mark, with significant efforts focused on upgrading and refurbishing existing sports facilities. State Youth, Sports and Entrepreneurship Committee chairman Mohd Najwan Halimi emphasized that March 2026 is the target deadline to finalize all preparations, ensuring that all facilities are ready for the national games.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Mohd Najwan revealed that various sports facilities, including stadiums, halls, and aquatic centers, are undergoing upgrades across several districts under local authorities. These efforts are being intensified to expedite the repairs and upgrades, ensuring that the facilities are not only usable but also safe for the contingents participating in the games.

Mohd Najwan delivered these updates at the Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah Mosque, where he also presented ‘muassasah’ incentives to 127 applicants for the Muassasah Haj Incentive 1446/2025. Additionally, he distributed RM60,000 in community funds to benefit individuals, non-governmental organizations, and resident associations actively serving the local community in the Kota Anggerik area.

Previously, it was reported that the venues undergoing upgrades include the Darul Ehsan Aquatic Centre in Shah Alam, Subang Shooting Range, and the Pandamaran Hockey Stadium in Klang. The total estimated cost for hosting the biennial games is projected to be RM200 million.
