Selangor MMEA Conducts MEDEVAC After Crewman Stabbed at Sea

Selangor: A crewman of MV Lucky Camelia was stabbed in the abdomen by a colleague during a fight aboard the vessel off Tanjung Rhu yesterday, prompting the Selangor Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) to launch a medical evacuation (MEDEVAC) mission.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Selangor MMEA director Maritime Captain Abdul Muhaimin Muhammad Salleh said the Selangor MMEA Operations Centre received a request for assistance at 8.52 pm before Penggalang 41 was deployed to the location, about four nautical miles from the coast.

The incident involved two Chinese crew members, with the 47-year-old victim suffering stab wounds to the abdomen while the 36-year-old suspect was detained following the incident. "The suspect will be investigated under Section 307 of the Penal Code for attempted murder," he said in a statement today.

He further explained that the victim was transferred to an ambulance for treatment at Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital (HTAR) after the vessel arrived at the Marine Police Force jetty in Pulau Indah at 1.15 am, while the suspect was also handed over to the investigating officer for further action.
