Selangor: Thai golfer Tawit Polthai fired six birdies en route to a final round of two-under 69 to bag his maiden Asian Development Tour (ADT) title at the 2025 Selangor Masters here today. The 30-year-old’s 16-under 268 total at the Seri Selangor Club saw him finish three strokes ahead of Filipino Juvic Pagunsan, who ended with a 13-under 271, while another Thai, Poom Pattaropong, finished third with an 11-under 273.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Tawit’s final-day score also included four bogeys, and he carded rounds of 70-64-65-69 to take home US$35,000, approximately RM153,230. Tawit expressed his joy at winning the ADT tournament, noting that his best finish previously was a fourth-place in the 2023 edition. He remarked, “I am very happy. it’s a good start for the 2025 season. This is my first time winning the ADT in Malaysia. This course is difficult but I was focused on my game and enjoyed myself.”

Meanwhile, youngster Muhammad Hariz Muhammad Hezri emerged as the best amateur and the best Malaysian finisher at the tournament, carding a four-day total of four-under 280 to share 11th spot with South Korea’s Gwon Minwook. The 20-year-old Malaysian was thrilled with his performance, saying it was his best since debuting in the 2022 edition. “I am extremely pleased with my performance in the tournament this time, having failed to make a mark previously. This time, I not only made the cut but also emerged as the best amateur and the best Malaysian finisher. I am so grateful,” said Muhammad Hariz, who hopes to join the Malaysian team for the Thailand SEA Games in December.

Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari presented the prizes to the winners.
