Cyber valley: The Selangor International Ride 2025 (SIR 2025), organised by the Selangor State Development Corporation (PKNS) at Cyber Valley here, has attracted 1,000 participants, comprising both local and international cyclists from countries such as Singapore, Germany, and Brazil.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the third edition of the cycling event features a new concept with the introduction of a 'fellowship ride', marking a departure from the competitive racing format used in the previous two editions in 2023 and 2024. The new approach aims to strengthen ties among strategic partners, local communities, and the general public.
Cyber Valley Development general manager Mohd Shahrol Md Sharif stated that although SIR 2025 does not adopt a racing concept, it serves as a platform for both local and international participants to test their abilities, showcase their skills, and share cycling experiences with people from all walks of life.
Participants were flagged off as early as 7.30 am by Tengku Orang Kaya Maha Bijaya Sepang Tengku Datuk Dr Jamaluddin Tengku Mahmud Shah Al Haj, involving the 88-kilometre (km) long-distance cycling (fellowship ride) and the 25-km fun ride categories. The 88-km ride took participants through Cyberjaya, Sepang, Kuala Langat, and Dengkil, and was also joined by PKNS chief executive officer Datuk Mahmud Abbas.
Also present were Bernam Jaya Development Unit senior project manager and SIR 2025 chairman Mohd Iswardy Mohamad Yunos, as well as PKNS Sales and Marketing general manager and SIR 2025 vice chairman Fadli Mohd Ariff.
According to Mohd Iswardy, participants in SIR 2025 ranged in age from 12 to 77 years old, with 40 percent of the total participants aged between 35 and 45. He expressed hopes of making the programme an annual event to introduce the community to existing PKNS townships and possibly include it in the Selangor tourism calendar, contingent on continued support from the state government and other partners.
SIR 2025 also received support from sponsoring partners, including Worldwide Holdings Berhad, Bank Islam Malaysia Berhad, Koperasi PKNS, and Kumpulan Hartanah Selangor Berhad, as well as government agencies such as the Sepang Municipal Council, Kuala Langat Municipal Council, the Royal Malaysia Police, and Cyberjaya Hospital.
Apart from the cycling activities, participants had the opportunity to win exclusive prizes through lucky draws, including a motorcycle as the main prize, while enjoying food stalls around the gallery. SIR 2025 reflects PKNS' commitment beyond its role as an organiser, positioning the corporation as a proactive development partner in empowering communities and strengthening Selangor's standing as a preferred destination for living, investment, economic opportunities, and sports tourism.
