Selangor: The Selangor government has announced that the 2025 Chinese New Year state-level celebration will be held on February 8 at the Fo Guang Shan Dong Zen Temple grounds in Jenjarom. The event is expected to draw over 30,000 visitors and will be graced by the Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, and the Tengku Permaisuri of Selangor, Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the celebration is organized in collaboration with Invest Selangor Bhd and coincides with the Lantern Festival and Floral Exhibition, which spans from January 25 to February 12. The festivities will cover an area of 38 acres, showcasing the spirit of goodwill, togetherness, and inclusivity in Selangor.
One of the key attractions of the celebration will be a 22-metre ‘giant lantern’ inspired by the Legend of the White Snake, alongside a 28-foot ‘Selangor lantern’ themed around the Year of the Snake. Other highlights include the Lumbini Garden, surrounded by orchid displays and koi ponds, with the area decorated with red lanterns, LED lights, and 3D structures.
For the convenience of attendees, 3,000 free parking spaces will be available on the temple grounds. The celebration will be held in two sessions, beginning at 5.30 pm and 8.30 pm, allowing ample opportunity for the public to join in the festivities.
