Selangor:TCab Tech and the Selangor Information Technology and Digital Economy Corporation (Sidec) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to explore the commercialisation of TCab Tech's five-seater electric flying taxi in Malaysia. This collaboration aims to develop the country's low-altitude economy (LAE) and includes plans for TCab Tech to establish a regional business centre in Selangor to support commercial development and expansion across Southeast Asia.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, TCab Tech will bring its expertise in electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft research, development, and manufacturing under the MoU. Meanwhile, Sidec will facilitate TCab Tech's engagement with relevant government agencies, industry players, and potential partners in Selangor.
The agreement was exchanged by Sidec CEO Yong Kai Ping and TCab Tech founder and CEO Ng Yon Wui at the 'Malaysian Engineers, Global Impact TCab Tech E20 eVTOL Showcase' at IOI City Mall. Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari, along with other officials, witnessed the exchange.
Ng highlighted Malaysia's potential as a market for eVTOL applications due to its aerospace manufacturing capabilities and demand for regional connectivity. He stressed the importance of certification, regulation, infrastructure, and real use cases for the LAE to succeed.
TCab Tech plans to explore applications for its E20 aircraft in tourism and travel, including connections between transport hubs and tourist destinations. Additionally, Ng has been appointed as an industry advisor to Sidec to share insights on developing high-technology sectors in Selangor.
The E20 is currently undergoing type certification with China's Civil Aviation Administration, having completed key stages. Preparations for overseas markets, including Malaysia, are underway following a civil aviation safety cooperation agreement between Malaysia and China.
The E20 flying taxi is on display at IOI City Mall until November 9, allowing the public to view the aircraft from 10 am to 10 pm daily with free admission.
