Kangar: Three PAS state assemblymen in Perlis whose positions were automatically vacated following the immediate termination of their party membership have been instructed to promptly return all state government assets in their possession.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Perlis speaker Rus'sele Eizan stated that the state assembly would formally notify the affected assemblymen-Saad Seman (Chuping), Fakhrul Anwar Ismail (Bintong), and Mohd Ridzuan Hashim (Guar Sanji)-regarding the return of items used during their tenure. Rus'sele explained that their positions were vacated not due to dismissal but due to the termination of their party membership, leading to the end of their roles as elected representatives.
Mohd Ridzuan, prior to the termination, served as the Perlis Youth and Sports, Science, Technology and Innovation Committee chairman. The vacancies for the Chuping, Bintong, and Guar Sanji state seats were announced by Rus'sele, citing the immediate termination of the assemblymen's membership as the cause.
Rus'sele noted that the vacancies met the requirements outlined in Clause (1)(a)(ii) of Article 50A of the Perlis Constitution for the affected constituencies. It was earlier reported that several Perikatan Nasional (PN) assemblymen in Perlis had allegedly met with the Raja of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Jamalullail, to convey a loss of confidence in and withdraw support for Menteri Besar Mohd Shukri Ramli.
Following these developments, PAS president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang issued a statement declaring the termination of the three assemblymen's membership in accordance with Clause 76 and Clause 15A(1)(b) of the PAS Constitution (Amendment 2025). In the 15th General Election (GE15), Perikatan Nasional (PN) secured 14 of the 15 state seats, comprising nine by PAS and five by Bersatu, with the remaining seat won by PKR.
