Kuala lumpur: The Securities Commission Malaysia (SC) today obtained a warrant of arrest against former Sarawak Consolidated Industries Bhd (SCIB) chairman and non-executive, non-independent director Mohd Abdul Karim Abdullah.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Abdul Karim, 61, was previously charged for a similar offence by the capital market regulator in 2021 concerning false information in the financial statements of Serba Dinamik Holdings Bhd. The issue was resolved through a compound after the public prosecutor accepted Abdul Karim's representation, resulting in a RM3 million compound.
Abdul Karim is currently at large and is wanted for the same offence under section 369(b)(B) of the Capital Markets and Services Act 2007. The SC confirmed that the public prosecutor has granted consent to initiate criminal proceedings against Abdul Karim for his involvement in causing SCIB to provide a false statement to Bursa Malaysia.
The filing reveals Abdul Karim's last known addresses as No. 35, Jalan Hijau Pelangi U9/51, Lake Garden Villas, Cahaya SPK, Shah Alam, Selangor, and Flat-3401, 345-Burj Khalifa, Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
