Saudi Arabia Invites Malaysia to Collaborate on Riyadh Expo 2030

Malaysia: Malaysia has received an offer from the Saudi Arabian government to assist in the organisation of Riyadh Expo 2030. Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof announced that the proposal was extended by Saudi Arabia’s Ambassador to Japan, Dr Ghazi Faisal Binzagr, during a visit to the Saudi Arabia Pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Fadillah highlighted the potential for Malaysia to enhance its relationship with Saudi Arabia and showcase its capabilities on an international platform. He expressed intentions to discuss with the Cabinet the potential areas of collaboration. The announcement was made following a dinner attended by Malaysian diaspora and students, where other notable attendees included Agriculture and Food Security Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu, Deputy Investment, Trade and Industry Minister Liew Chin Tong, Sarawak Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan, and Malaysian Ambassador to Japan Datuk Shahril Effendi Abd Ghany.

Malaysia has been invited to partake in preparatory work, focusing on technical and infrastructure aspects of the expo. Fadillah mentioned that Shahril Effendi will engage in discussions with Binzagr regarding the specifics of cooperation.

The Deputy Prime Minister is currently in Osaka to inaugurate the Malaysia Pavilion at Expo 2025. During his three-day visit, Fadillah stressed the importance of fostering long-term strategic partnerships between Malaysia and Japan, identifying new areas of cooperation that align with regional sustainability, innovation, and integration.

Fadillah noted that Malaysia’s involvement in the expo is consistent with its role as Chair of ASEAN, positioning the Malaysia Pavilion as a focal point for regional engagement during the six-month global event. His visit highlights Malaysia’s dedication to cultivating mutually beneficial relationships with Japan and the international community, particularly in sectors that promote resilience, innovation, and shared prosperity.
