Kuching: The Sarawak government hopes the Budget 2026 will focus on the state’s actual needs, particularly in infrastructure and social development, said Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg. He emphasized that special attention should be given to Sarawak in the federal budget to ensure more balanced development across the country.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Abang Johari highlighted the importance of considering Sarawak’s circumstances, especially from the infrastructure perspective. He stressed the need for more allocations, including for public services and housing. Additionally, Deputy Premier Dr. Sim Kui Hian expressed the urgency of completing the cancer centre to enhance healthcare services in the region.

The Budget 2026 is scheduled to be tabled in Parliament on Friday by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim. It is a key agenda of the Third Meeting of the Fourth Session of the 15th Parliament, which commenced on Monday and will continue until December. Anwar has previously stated that the budget preparation will align with the economic priorities of each state to ensure balanced growth and address the rising cost of living.
