Sarawak: The public is invited to the Sarawak Chinese New Year open house at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) on January 29. Sarawak Deputy Premier, Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian, announced that the celebration will take place on the first day of the Lunar New Year, from 8:45 am to 2:00 pm.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Sarawak Arts Council has prepared a line-up of performances, including an opening Lion Dance. Additionally, this year, guests will be treated to a special performance by the Oriental Chinese Orchestra. The open house will also feature performances by local singers Valerie Thiam, Ng Chien Chien, Ivando, Roxy Ixy, and Hafizah.

Dr Sim, who is the minister in charge of the celebration, mentioned that Sarawak Governor Tun Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar and his wife, Toh Puan Fauziah Mohd Sanusi, as well as Sarawak Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg and his wife, Puan Sri Juma’ani Tuanku Bujang, are expected to attend the event. The state-level celebration will also be streamed live on the Sarawak Public Communication Unit Facebook page and YouTube channel.
