Sarawak Governor Arrives in Penang for Official Visit and Leisure

PENANG: Sarawak Governor Tun Dr. Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar and his wife, Toh Puan Fauziah Mohd Sanusi, commenced a visit to Penang today, combining official duties with leisure activities. Their arrival marks the beginning of a three-day stay aimed at furthering ties between Sarawak and Penang.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the couple was received with a warm welcome at Penang International Airport in Bayan Lepas at 12:55 p.m. by Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow, Deputy Chief Minister 1 Datuk Dr. Mohamad Abdul Hamid, and other senior government officials. The visit includes a schedule filled with both official engagements and opportunities to explore Penang’s cultural and tourist sites.

The Sarawak Governor expressed his appreciation for the hospitality extended by Chow and the Penang government, highlighting it on his official Facebook page. The post mentioned that the visit serves as a chance to delve into the cultural and culinary richness of Penang, with the entourage stopping at a well-known nasi kandar restaurant, a staple of the island’s culinary scene.

Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow voiced his optimism about the visit, expressing hopes that it would strengthen the existing bonds of friendship and cooperation between the two states.
