Sarawak: The Sarawak government is planning to develop an Artificial Intelligence (AI) Data Campus in Tanjung Embang to drive investment and strengthen the state's AI data centre ecosystem. The initiative aims to position Sarawak as a key player in the AI and data management sector.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Sarawak Public Communications Unit (UKAS) stated that the plan was announced by Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg during his official working visit to the K2 Strategic Data Centre Campus in Dublin, Ireland. During the visit, Abang Johari emphasized the importance of the project for the state's economic development.

Abang Johari revealed that a 405-hectare site has been identified for this high-impact project. The proposed campus, named the Kuching AI Data Campus, will feature dedicated power and water supply facilities essential for data centre operations. The development is set to be implemented through a public-private partnership (PPP), with the first phase covering 120 hectares.

The Premier also mentioned that the project would be modeled after the world-class facility he visited in Dublin. This initiative aligns with broader development plans in Tanjung Embang, which include a new airport, seaport, and low-carbon industrial development, further enhancing the region's infrastructure and economic potential.
