Sarawak: The General Operations Force (GOF) Sarawak Brigade seized RM3.18 million worth of fireworks under Ops Taring Charlie conducted at four separate locations from Wednesday to Saturday. Its commander, SAC Lim Bak Phai, reported that three men, aged 31 to 42, were arrested during two raids in Padawan, where RM1,795,690 worth of fireworks and a vehicle were confiscated.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, additional raids in Kuching, Serian, Sibu, and Miri led to the arrest of five more men, aged 22 to 70, and the seizure of various fireworks. The estimated value of these seizures was RM1,390,608.
All suspects and the seized items have been handed over to the respective district police headquarters for further action and investigation under Section 8 of the Explosives Act 1957.
