Kuching: The Sarawak Brigade of the General Operations Force (GOF) recorded 23 successful operations across the state, from Jan 15 to 31, with total seizures valued at RM35.31 million. Sarawak Brigade commander SAC Lim Bak Phai announced the achievements, highlighting the significant impact of operations including Op Taring Alpha, Op Bravo, Op Charlie, Op Batas/Awas, and Op Libas.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, during this period, the Sarawak GOF seized frozen products without permits, worth RM25.01 million. In addition, untaxed cigarettes and alcoholic beverages, valued at RM5.79 million, were also confiscated. The operations targeted not only illegal imports but also the seizure of controlled goods and basic necessities, including garlic, sugar, liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) cylinders, and rice, valued at RM1.17 million.
The efforts extended to dismantling illegal logging activities, resulting in the seizure of logs valued at RM425,000. Furthermore, fireworks and firecrackers without permits, worth RM2.21 million, were confiscated. Vehicles and equipment used in these illicit activities were also seized for further investigation.
Lim stated that all arrests and seizures had been handed over to the relevant enforcement agencies for further action. He affirmed that the Sarawak Brigade will continue to intensify enforcement operations to curb smuggling and cross-border crimes, ensuring public safety and order are maintained.
