Sarawak Fully Recovers From Floods

Sarawak: Sarawak has fully recovered from recent floods, with the closure of the only temporary relief centre (PPS) at Masjid Darul Istiqlaal, marking the end of emergency operations. The centre was officially closed around noon today, indicating a return to normalcy for the affected areas.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Sarawak State Disaster Management Committee (JPBN) announced that the relief centre ceased operations at 12.30 pm. The centre had been active since the previous day due to flooding in the Mampung Sungai Maong area. A total of 65 victims from 18 families who sought refuge at the centre have now returned to their homes.

Last week, the Malaysian Meteorological Department had predicted ongoing wet conditions in both Sabah and Sarawak. The forecast anticipated rain in several areas as a result of a monsoon surge entering the region, which had initially prompted the establishment of the relief centre.
