Kuala lumpur: The cultural diversity and harmony among Sarawak's multi-racial communities continue to serve as the backbone that unites Malaysia, Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi emphasized.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Zahid made these remarks in a Facebook post, highlighting the significance of Sarawak Day, celebrated annually on July 22. He noted that the occasion is an opportunity to uphold the identity of Sarawak's people, instill a sense of pride, and reflect on the state's contributions to Malaysia's nation-building efforts.

"In conjunction with this year's Sarawak Day celebration, I would like to express my appreciation to the Sarawak state government and the people of Sarawak for all their services, contributions and commitment to developing the state and driving the country's economy," Zahid stated. He further expressed hope that the spirit of 'Segulai Sejalai' (togetherness) will continue to inspire Malaysians to move forward, fostering unity and building a more progressive and harmonious future for the country.

Zahid also announced that Sibu has been chosen to host the three-day Sarawak Day 2026 celebration, commencing on July 20.
