Sarawak: Sarawak and Japan have announced plans to enhance their bilateral cooperation, focusing on education, human capital development, and emerging industries. This announcement was made by Japanese Ambassador to Malaysia, Noriyuki Shikata, during his courtesy visit to Sarawak Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg at the Satria Pertiwi Complex.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the discussions between Shikata and Abang Johari centered on encouraging Japanese investments in Sarawak and expanding educational collaborations. Abang Johari extended an invitation to the Japanese business community to invest in the state, emphasizing the potential for collaboration in developing future-ready talent and creating quality job opportunities for Sarawakians in new economic sectors.
Shikata also highlighted a recent partnership between Japanese company Toybox Creations and Technologies (TOY EIGHT) and SeDidik's preschool. This collaboration aims to implement AI-based screening to assess children's cognitive development. Shikata noted that this initiative could serve as a model for Japan and other Southeast Asian countries, potentially influencing the global educational landscape.
