Kuala lumpur: Recipients of the Sumbangan Asas Rahmah (SARA) aid who discovered their MyKad has been misused have been urged to lodge a police report to enable the assistance to be refunded. Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail stated that the aid will be returned to the affected recipients once investigations confirm that it was misused.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Ministry of Finance (MOF) and the National Registration Department (NRD) will conduct a comprehensive investigation to identify the cause and ensure the rightful recipients have their aid reinstated once a police report is lodged by the MyKad holder. Saifuddin emphasized that SARA is a right of the people and the government will not allow any eligible recipient to be disadvantaged by technical issues or identity misuse.
Saifuddin Nasution further mentioned that the NRD and MOF are working to resolve technical issues related to MyKad verification and security, ensuring that the next round of targeted subsidy distribution can be carried out smoothly. The ongoing improvement measures include regularly updating and matching MyKad data, card verification to prevent fraudulent redemptions, and strengthening the NRD’s digital infrastructure security.
He reiterated the commitment of the MADANI Government to implement targeted subsidies in a transparent, secure, and equitable manner. The Ministry of Home Affairs (KDN), together with MOF, is focused on strengthening identity verification systems and data security to ensure every ringgit in assistance is rightfully returned to eligible recipients without disruption, misappropriation, or loss of entitlement.
