Kuala lumpur: A monthly aid of RM100 may seem small to some, but for recipients of Sumbangan Asas Rahmah (SARA), it makes a significant impact, especially for those struggling with rising living costs.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, for housewife Sea Ah Lin, 67, from Pengkalan Durian Linggi, the financial aid has greatly eased her household burden, especially after her husband, Wong Kuan Lin, 69, stopped working at a factory in Melaka at 50 due to health reasons. Sea Ah Lin shared that although the aid does not cover all their needs, it helps lighten the family's financial strain, allowing her to purchase basic necessities like rice, eggs, and milk.

For shop assistant Mohammad Abdullah, 40, who works in Pekan Linggi, the financial assistance credited directly to his MyKad each month provides some relief in managing household expenses. With an income of around RM1,500, this aid helps reduce the burden of purchasing essential items for him and his wife.

Senior citizen Siti Masita Sabyumin, 63, from Kampung Kundur Hulu, Rembau, expressed her gratitude for the government's introduction of SARA, highlighting its role in helping her buy basic necessities. She voiced hopes for an increase in the aid amount to further support families.

Meanwhile, her younger sister Siti Nozira Sabyumin, 50, from Kampung Kundur, Pedas, uses the RM50 monthly aid she receives under the single category to purchase groceries. As a factory worker, she appreciates the assistance amid rising prices and hopes for an increase in the aid for single recipients as well.

SARA, introduced in July 2023, is part of the government's cash assistance reform aimed at alleviating the cost-of-living burden for the people.
