Kuala lumpur: The Malaysian Islamic Youth Movement (ABIM) has declared that same-sex relationships should no longer be viewed merely as a personal matter but rather as a pressing social and health concern that demands intervention from families, communities, authorities, and the educational system.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, ABIM’s deputy president Mohamad Saifuddin Abdul Latiff highlighted a recent raid on a health facility in Chow Kit, which was allegedly used for homosexual activities, as evidence that immoral behavior in the country is becoming more organized and shameless. The involvement of 17 civil servants, including teachers and healthcare workers, in activities deemed contrary to religion, human nature, and societal values has been particularly alarming. Mohamad Saifuddin urged that such behavior should not be normalized.
He further pointed out that data from the Ministry of Health indicates a worrisome trend of rising HIV infections linked to same-sex relations. This trend underscores that such practices not only violate syariah and moral values but also present a significant public health risk.
Mohamad Saifuddin emphasized the necessity for a collaborative effort from family institutions, schools, mosques, civil society, and the government to address the issue comprehensively through law enforcement, moral education, and public health advocacy. He stressed that the issue is not about stigma or discrimination but rather concerns the sanctity of societal values, moral safety, and the well-being of the people.
He called for firm action against openly deviant behavior to protect the dignity of society, public order, and the future of the nation. ABIM regrets that some parties downplay the issue, treating the moral decline of society as a trivial matter. Such attitudes are seen as dangerous, opening the door to normalization, eroding moral sensitivity, and ultimately leading society into broader social harm.
The raid on Friday targeted a spa and health center suspected of being a venue for homosexual men to engage in immoral activities, resulting in the arrest of 208 individuals, including 17 civil servants.
