Salesman Loses Over RM1 Mln To Online Game Investment Scam

Kuala lumpur: A salesman from a private company in Bukit Mertajam lost RM1.027 million after falling victim to an online game investment scam.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Penang police chief Datuk Azizee Ismail stated that the 34-year-old man lodged a report at the Seberang Perai Tengah District Police Headquarters (IPD) today. The victim was duped by the syndicate through a Facebook advertisement.

The police chief explained that the victim came across an online game investment called sandsm2s5.club on Facebook in early September. The advertisement promised a 50 percent profit within a short period, which attracted the victim.

Datuk Azizee revealed that the victim made an initial transfer of RM300,000 on September 3 into a local company’s account. This was followed by seven more transactions totaling RM727,000 to five different company accounts between September 10 and October 9.

The victim realized he had been cheated after discovering that the sandsm2s5.club website was no longer accessible, and the contact number used by the syndicate had been deactivated. The case is currently being investigated under Section 420 of the Penal Code for cheating.
