Saifuddin Hails MBOR Recognition For Prisons Department Initiative

Kuala lumpur: Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail has congratulated the Malaysian Prisons Department, particularly the Batu Gajah Correctional Centre, for its recognition by the Malaysia Book of Records (MBOR) through the organisation of a Basic Life Support (BLS) and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) training course involving 42 inmates. He said this success proves that the prison institution is not merely a place to serve punishment, but a rehabilitation institution that gives individuals a second chance to rebuild their lives.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the training equips inmates with life-saving skills that are recognized and instills humanitarian values, discipline, responsibility, and self-confidence as preparation to become productive members of society again. Saifuddin emphasized that this philosophy, which focuses on rehabilitation rather than punishment, continues to be the core of the Prison Department's mission.

He further stated that the ultimate goal of the department is to ensure that every individual returning to the community possesses the skills, values, and ability to contribute positively to their family, community, and country. Saifuddin expressed hope that more high-impact programs like this can be implemented to strengthen the rehabilitation and social reintegration agenda for the welfare of society.
