Safee, Kien Keat To Crank Up The Heat In Human-Piloted Humanoid Robots Competition

Kuala lumpur: Former national footballer Safee Sali and former national men's doubles player Koo Kien Keat are among the sports personalities expected to feature in the human-piloted humanoid robots competition, New Dawn MY, at the Pavilion Arena, Pavilion Damansara Heights, on Oct 3.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, a statement by the organiser Shadow Combat League (SCL) highlighted that New Dawn MY, part of the league, will showcase seven bouts during a three-hour live experience. The event will include four preliminary fights and three main-card championship bouts.

The competition is described as Southeast Asia's first live teleoperated humanoid combat league. Each bout is scheduled to last up to 15 minutes or until a machine can no longer continue, creating an action-packed format centered around unpredictability and competitive thrill.

Three prestigious titles will be contested during the event: ICON, for celebrities and entertainers; GLADIATOR, for real-life fighters or martial arts exponents; and NETRUNNER, for geeks, tech enthusiasts, gamers, and corporate professionals. Champions will take their belts home and are expected to return next year to defend their titles against new challengers.

In addition to Safee and Kien Keat, other personalities from sports, entertainment, and digital media will feature in the event, including Malaysian actress Daniella Sya, Malaysian actor Daniel Fung, and global social media influencer from Tajikistan, Abdu Rozik.

SCL founder Dr. Ian Tan Wei Lun expressed in the statement that the event promises a unique fight night experience, showcasing real humanoids, real pilots, and genuine competition, with three coveted titles up for grabs.
