Selangor: The Selangor Agriculture Development Corporation (SADC) will set up a large-scale dairy complex, Ehsan Dairy Farm, which is expected to begin operations early next year. Its group chief executive officer, Datuk Dr Mohamad Khairil Mohamad Razi, stated that the project is aimed at boosting local dairy production, reducing dependence on foreign imports, and raising the national dairy self-sufficiency rate from 5.3 percent.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the complex, located at the 42-acre Sungai Tengi SADC Farm, will house over 1,200 Jersey-Holstein Friesian (F2) dairy cows. It is projected to produce 1.8 million litres of fresh milk annually, generating an income of over RM7.5 million and creating over 100 jobs directly and indirectly. The farm will integrate smart farm management technology, automation, and digital animal health systems, supporting the development of downstream agro-industry ecosystems, which include processing, packaging, and marketing of local dairy.
The project is a vital component of the Selangor Food Security Action Framework 2021-2025 and is categorized as a national strategic initiative, aligning with the Federal Government’s efforts to modernize the agro-food sector and improve the domestic food supply chain’s efficiency. The initiative was announced during a groundbreaking ceremony attended by Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari.
Ehsan Dairy Farm will be equipped with modern facilities that support large-scale systematic breeding operations, including the Swing Over Rapid Exit system, capable of milking 60 cows simultaneously, and Dairymaster technology such as the Neck Collar (Moomonitor), which identifies cows in heat by monitoring their activity levels.
SADC is a Selangor state government company tasked with advancing the state’s agriculture and agro-food sectors in line with the socioeconomic development of the Selangor people through various commercial projects and high-impact corporate social responsibility initiatives.
