Kota kinabalu: Pakatan Harapan (PH) continues to play an important role in ensuring that state governance is maintained at the highest standard despite contesting fewer seats in the 17th Sabah State Election (PRN), said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim. Anwar, who is also PH chairman, expressed his concerns about Sabah’s future governance, stressing the importance of preventing corruption and abuse of power post-election.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Anwar emphasized the need for collaborative efforts among parties in the upcoming state government to scrutinize all development initiatives, similar to the cooperation seen with the caretaker state government and the federal government. Speaking at the Premier Talk and Dinner with the Chinese Community program, which DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke also attended, Anwar underscored the importance of developing a ‘New Sabah’ by advancing projects across all sectors.
Anwar, who also serves as Finance Minister, highlighted his commitment to promoting the potential of Malaysian states, including Sabah and Sarawak, during international visits. He noted that cooperation between the Federal and state governments plays a crucial role in attracting global investors, attributing Malaysia’s appeal to the harmony within its multiracial society.
The Prime Minister further urged the public to preserve the unity that has long existed in Malaysia for the benefit of future generations. He encouraged open dialogue and cooperation to ensure the state’s stability, emphasizing that peace and unity contribute to Malaysia’s global respect and strong economic standing.
Meanwhile, Anwar reiterated the MADANI Government’s commitment to strengthening the national economy by fostering good relations with major powers such as China, the United States, African nations, and Europe. These efforts aim to create more opportunities to boost the economies of Sabah and Malaysia.
He shared that Malaysia’s peaceful environment, strong economy, and stable politics have garnered respect from other countries, as evidenced by recent communications from world leaders in Cambodia, Thailand, and the United States. This international respect is seen as vital for elevating Malaysia’s economy.
