Kota kinabalu: The early voter turnout for the 17th Sabah state election today is at a remarkable 92.5 per cent, translating to 17,615 voters. Election Commission (EC) secretary Datuk Khairul Shahril Idrus revealed that the early voters comprised armed forces personnel and their spouses, along with police personnel, including those from the General Operations Force (GOF) and their spouses, who are eligible as early voters in the state election.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the early voting process commenced at 8 am across 58 voting stations throughout Sabah and concluded at 5 pm. The eligible early voters included 8,347 armed forces personnel and spouses, as well as 10,696 police personnel and their spouses. Datuk Khairul Shahril Idrus commended all the returning officers and their teams for their exemplary execution of duties on the election day.
In his statement, he also extended his gratitude to the Sabah state secretary’s office, the Sabah federation secretary’s office, the Royal Malaysia Police, the Malaysian Armed Forces, media practitioners, and everyone who was directly or indirectly involved for their unwavering cooperation and support to the EC. Sabah voters are scheduled to cast their ballots on November 29.
