Kota kinabalu: All 882 polling centres for the 17th Sabah State Election closed at 5.30 pm today. The closure of these centres, which involved 3,599 streams, was carried out in stages according to the areas and number of registered voters, after polling began at 7.30 am.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, more than 1.74 million eligible voters participated in today’s election to elect their representatives for the 73 contested seats in the State Legislative Assembly. The Election Commission (EC) reported that 60.94 per cent, or 1,062,114 voters, had cast their ballots by 4.00 pm.

The EC expects to announce the early voting results around 10.00 pm tonight. Currently, the counting of ballots from polling centres that closed earlier is underway.
