Sabah PKR Poised for Significant Role in State Governance with Election Mandate

Kota kinabalu: Sabah PKR has expressed its readiness to take on a larger role in state governance if granted the mandate in the upcoming 17th Sabah State Election. The party is committed to delivering effective leadership and a reform agenda aimed at enhancing the state’s administrative efficiency.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Sabah PKR’s State Election director, Datuk Peto Galim, emphasized that the party is fielding candidates who are well-positioned to contribute to the state’s administration. Despite contesting only 12 seats, the party believes these candidates possess the necessary attributes to strengthen governance and deliver tangible benefits to the populace.

Datuk Peto Galim, who also serves as Sabah PKR deputy chairman, highlighted the party’s dedication to administrative reforms focused on streamlining project execution, improving governance, and enhancing the functionality of state departments and agencies.

He pointed out that addressing delays in project implementation and inefficiencies in decision-making are critical challenges that must be tackled to accelerate state development. Peto urged state leadership to adopt a more unified and collaborative approach to propel Sabah forward.

Sabah PKR’s post-election goals extend beyond increasing seat numbers. The party aims to ensure that its elected representatives effect real change in state administration by resolving issues, organizing project execution, and expanding job opportunities.

Furthermore, Peto expressed confidence that Sabah PKR’s involvement in the state government would fortify relations with the federal government, thereby facilitating the resolution of key issues such as infrastructure, basic amenities, and economic prospects.

The commitment of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is seen as a pivotal factor that could enhance support and focus on Sabah if PKR becomes part of the state government, Peto added.

The seats contested by PKR in this election include Api-Api, Merotai, Melalap, Sindumin, Tulid, Gum-Gum, Karamunting, Segama, Petagas, Bandau, and Moyog.

According to the Election Commission, a total of 1,784,843 voters, comprising regular voters, military personnel and spouses, and police personnel and spouses, are eligible to vote in this election. Polling is scheduled for November 29, with early voting on November 25.
