Sabah Flood: Number Of Evacuees Rises To 300 This Morning

Sabah: The number of flood evacuees in Sabah has increased slightly to 300 from 93 families as of 8 am today, compared to 270 from 82 families yesterday. The State Disaster Management Committee secretariat reported on the current situation, indicating the rising impact of the floods in the region.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, 30 villages in Paitan have been affected by the floods, prompting the activation of five relief centres. These centres are located at the Batagon Darat Community Centre, PCS Purubatu Church Hall, Surau Nur Hikmah in Kampung Kaindangan, SK Lubang Buaya, and the district hall. The affected residents have been provided shelter and necessary assistance at these locations.

The Meteorological Department has issued a warning of thunderstorms expected in several remote areas in the state today, which could further exacerbate the flood situation. Residents have been advised to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions as authorities continue to monitor the situation closely.
