Sabah Flood Evacuees Rise Slightly to 5,093 at Noon

Kota kinabalu: The number of flood evacuees in Sabah sheltering at temporary relief centres in three affected districts increased to 5,093 people as of 12 noon today, compared with 5,017 recorded at 8 am earlier.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Sabah Disaster Management Secretariat reported a slight increase in the number of evacuees at the relief centres, particularly in the district of Pitas. The count of evacuees in Pitas has risen to 2,777, up from 2,701 recorded in the morning.

The statement also noted that the number of evacuees in Paitan remains unchanged at 2,071, while Tawau has recorded 245 evacuees. A total of 86 villages have been affected by the floods.

Several relief centres in Paitan are expected to be closed this afternoon due to improving flood conditions.

Meanwhile, the Malaysian Meteorological Department has forecast thunderstorms in several interior areas of Sabah throughout the morning, afternoon, and evening.
