Sabah Flood Evacuees Remain Steady at 695 Amid Continued Flooding

Kota Kinabalu: The number of flood evacuees in Sabah has remained constant at 695, encompassing 217 families, as assessed at 8 am today.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Sabah Disaster Management Committee Secretariat released a statement indicating that 325 individuals from 103 families are currently taking refuge in two temporary evacuation centres located in the Sook district. These centres include Dewan Sekolah Kebangsaan Pekan Keningau 2, which is accommodating 208 people, and Dewan Masyarakat Sook, which is providing shelter for 117 individuals.

In the Beaufort area, 370 people from 114 families have been relocated to the Selagon Permanent Evacuation Centre (PPK) as a precautionary measure against the ongoing floods.

The statement further highlighted the impact of the flooding on local communities, noting that a total of 19 villages remain affected. Specifically, 10 villages in Beaufort and nine in Sook continue to experience the consequences of the floods.
