Sabah FC Extends Ong Kim Swee’s Coaching Tenure Until 2024/2025 Season.


KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah Football Association (SAFA) and Sabah FC have decided to extend the contract of their head coach, Datuk Ong Kim Swee, until the end of the 2024/2025 season, acknowledging the former national squad head coach’s impressive performance.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, SAFA president Datuk Shahelmey Yahya, who also serves as the Deputy Chief Minister III, confirmed that Kim Swee’s contract, initially set to expire on November 30, has now been extended until April next year. This extension is seen as an opportunity for Kim Swee to maintain the team’s winning momentum and enhance their performance in the Super League. The team also prepares to face the Malaysia Cup competition, anticipated to commence at the end of this month.

“We have high confidence in Datuk Ong Kim Swee,” Shahelmey expressed in a statement. He further commented on the management’s hopes for increased support from fans at the Likas Stadium, emphasizing that greater attendance could boost the team’s enthusiasm and conf
idence.

The presence of supporters is expected to elevate the players’ morale, inspiring them to deliver their best performances in both the Super League and Malaysia Cup competitions. Sabah FC currently holds the third position in the Super League table with 26 points from 14 matches, trailing behind leaders JDT and Selangor, who are in second place.
