Kota Kinabalu: A win against Sri Pahang FC in the second semi-final tomorrow night will end Sabah FC’s 22-year wait to play in a Malaysia Cup final, said its assistant head coach Alto Linus. Alto emphasized that his team must exert maximum effort to secure a victory at the Temerloh Municipal Council Stadium, as both teams are currently tied 1-1 following the first leg held in Kota Kinabalu.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Alto Linus stated, “Tomorrow night, our main mission should be to go to the final. Sabah FC has not been to the final for a long time, 22 years ago to be correct. Sabah FC’s performance needs to be better than the first semi-final at the Likas Stadium. We want whoever fielded in the match to be able to do their best.”

He highlighted the significance of this opportunity for the people of Sabah, who have long awaited a chance to see their team play in the Malaysia Cup final. Despite the challenge of facing a strong opponent, Sabah FC remains resolute in their determination to achieve victory, even though the match will not be held on their home turf.

In the first leg match at the Likas Stadium on January 18, Sabah FC managed a 1-1 draw with Sri Pahang FC, with goals from Sabah FC midfielder Stuart Wilkin and Sri Pahang FC captain Kpah Sherman.
