Sabah Electricity To Implement Temporary Power Rationing In Several Areas

Kota kinabalu: Sabah Electricity will implement scheduled power rationing in several areas across the state following a reduction in generation capacity caused by a disruption in gas supply to several power plants. In a statement today, the utility company said the situation had reduced the reserve margin of the Sabah Grid System, requiring load management measures to maintain grid stability and prevent wider supply interruptions.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the rationing is a temporary measure and will be lifted once generation capacity is restored to sufficient levels and the grid system stabilises. 'Sabah Electricity is working closely with all relevant parties to restore generation capacity as quickly as possible. At the same time, grid operations are being optimised to minimise the impact on consumers,' the statement said.

It added that updates and lists of affected areas will be issued from time to time via the official Sabah Electricity Careline Facebook page, while consumers may contact 15444 for enquiries. The utility company apologised for the inconvenience caused and thanked customers for their patience and cooperation during the system management period.

Consumers are advised to rely only on official Sabah Electricity channels for updates and to avoid sharing unverified information.
