Kota Kinabalu: Sabah Electricity Sdn Bhd (Sabah Electricity) and the State Community Development Leaders Unit (UPPM) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to ensure comprehensive electricity supply across the state.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the MoU, which spans one year, aligns with the mission of Community Development Leaders (PPM) to provide optimal services to residents in their respective locales. Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor emphasized the initiative’s importance in extending electricity access to rural and remote areas within the state. He made these remarks following the MoU signing ceremony at Menara Kinabalu.
The agreement saw Sabah Electricity represented by CEO Datuk Mohd Yaakob Jaafar, while UPPM Sabah was represented by its director, Datuk Awang Kadin Tang. The event was attended by notable figures including State Secretary Datuk Safar Untong and State Attorney General Datuk Brenndon Keith Soh.
Chief Minister Hajiji Noor expressed optimism about the collaboration’s potential to enhance electricity connectivity in underserved areas, develop sustainable energy infrastructure, and raise public awareness regarding the services and energy efficiency initiatives offered by Sabah Electricity. He further noted that this partnership would serve as a central point for issues related to Sabah Electricity services and could generate job opportunities for Sabah residents.
