Kota kinabalu: Sabah DAP has announced its decision not to accept any positions within the Sabah government, including appointments to the Sabah State Legislative Assembly. This was confirmed by the party’s secretary-general, Anthony Loke, following an emergency meeting of the party’s Central Executive Committee (CEC) that was convened to discuss the outcomes of the recent Sabah state election.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Anthony Loke emphasized that although Sabah DAP will not be part of the state government structure, the party’s leaders are committed to actively serving the people of Sabah and working towards regaining their trust. Loke highlighted the election results as indicative of a significant crisis of confidence in both DAP and its coalition, Pakatan Harapan (PH).
Loke acknowledged the clear signal sent by voters and noted that those involved in the campaign were acutely aware of the widespread dissatisfaction among the populace. He also mentioned that DAP intends to gather feedback and collaborate with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim to expedite the reform agenda within the next six months.
The 17th Sabah state election, conducted last Saturday, resulted in DAP Sabah failing to win any of the eight seats it contested. These included six seats previously held by DAP-Luyang, Kapayan, Likas, Tanjong Papat, Elopura, and Sri Tanjong-as well as two new seats, Tanjung Aru and Kemabong.
